They call this city ´The end of the world´ "Fin del mondu", although technically this is not the southern place in the world (It's in Chile, but we are not going to be petty).
The journey to this place started with a long flight. Izick find us a cheap flight to Ushaia (only 260 peso ~ less then 100$), but he forgot to mention that it's in the air force company. The moment I saw the plane, we were about to go on, I knew that it's going to be unique flight.
Because of my fear of height I closed my ayes all the way, but the way was cut off so many time.
Every 30 minutes we landed in some deserted place that no one knows about.
If you ask me why we landed I can't really answer it.
Each time 2 pilots went off the plane with a pink paper and a weird bag, and after less then 10 minutes we were on our next unknown destination.
Another interested thing is that there were 3 pilots and only 4 people on the plane, go figure...
Finally after 6 hours of endless take offs and landings we landed and said goodbye to the small plane. But, we still didn't reach our final destination.
From here, after 2 hours of exhausting wait, we had our final flight with a real plane straight to Ushaia.
So, instead of doing it in 3 days on the bus we did it in 10 hours, and we paid less then the bus (Thank you Izick).
When we arrived to Ushaia it was already dark, but still we could see we arrived to an amazing place.
The city is surrounded by magnificent mountains all covered with snow.
After short admiring of the view we were on our way to look for a place to stay. Unfortunately, we arrived in a bad time to the city. It was ester, and the city was filled with people celebrating the holiday and people who came to the last 2 parties of the season.
After almost 1 hour, in the freezing cold, Izick found us a place to sleep. He is really good in doing this job.
We were staying in a very nice place, not typical to south america. Well, it´s the end of the world, as they say, so perhaps you get something extra for getting to this place.
We spent a week in Ushaia, more then we expected. But, when you arrive at the end of the season you can´t expect to have transportation every day.
We almost filled all of our days with activities.
First activate was Lagoon Esmeralda. This was very interesting day trip. We went there with 3 more Israeli, the only Israelis now in Ushaaia. It stared all nice and pretty, but shortly after starting our walk we kind of lost our way and were stuck in deep mud.
Finally after walking for 3 hours we decided that we found a lagoon, we didn´t really know if it was Esmeralda but, for the time being it was enough for us.
When we arrived to the start of the trek we showed the guy at the reception the picture of the lagoon we saw and he laughed at us.
According to his explanation we completely lost our way.
Not defeated by our mistake we went to look for the lagoon again after 2 days. This time we found it
and then we realized, that the other day, we lost our way just at the start.
Our conclusion from our mistake is, if you don´t see blue mark every 5 minutes you are not on the right track.
The second activity was going to the national park to do some of the treks over there. The park offer several treks.
We choose the 4th trek, which is the difficult one. After almost 1 hour of climbing to the top I decided that it´s not for me and I don´t want to injure my knees again so, I went back down by myself and izick continue by himself. Eventually I found out that I made a good choose.
When Izick got to the top there was a snow storm and it was freezing cold.
Another activate available in Ushaia is taking a cruise to see some penguins. But we decided that after holding one in our hand, no one can top it.
So, we decide to skip it.
In conclusion Ushaia was a very beautiful place and it´s a shame that someone will miss it because of the weather. It´s true that now both of us seek, but it´s part of the trip.
